Remember Me – A Reflection on Emotions

It is often said that emotions are what make us human. They can be both beautiful and terrifying, uplifting and agonizing, joyous and heart-wrenching. Emotions are what give our lives depth and meaning, and they are what help us form connections with others.

But what happens to our emotions when we are no longer here? What happens to our memories and the feelings that they inspire in others? These are difficult questions to contemplate, yet they are fundamental to our existence. We are, after all, part of a larger whole, a collective consciousness that continues to evolve even when we are gone.

As I reflect on these questions, I am reminded of the words of the poet Rumi, who wrote: “I am not this hair, I am not this skin, I am the soul that lives within.” It is this essence, this spark of life that makes us who we are, that enables us to experience a range of emotions, from the deepest despair to the greatest joy.
