My hometown is a small coastal city located in the southeast of China. If I were to create a poster that expresses my emotions towards it, it would be a combination of vibrant colors, nostalgic objects, and symbolic elements. In this article, I will show you how I would design such a poster and what it represents to me.
The first thing that comes to my mind when I think about my hometown is the ocean. Therefore, I would use a blue color scheme as the dominant tone of the poster. The different shades of blue would represent the vastness, depth, and ever-changing nature of the sea. I would add some white strokes or patterns to mimic the waves, creating a sense of motion and liveliness.
Besides the ocean, there are several iconic objects that I associate with my hometown. Among them are the old banyan tree that has been standing in the center of the city square for centuries, the red-brick walls and tiled roofs of the traditional houses, and the rusty bicycles that are still the main means of transportation for many locals. These objects signify the history, culture, and simplicity of my hometown, and I would include them in the poster as well.
To translate my emotional connection to my hometown into visuals, I would also add some symbolic elements. For example, I would draw a lighthouse, which symbolizes guidance, safety, and hope. The lighthouse also represents the idea that my hometown is a beacon of light in my life, a place that has guided me through the stormy times and given me hope for the future.
Another symbolic element that I would include is a flock of seagulls. These birds are ubiquitous in my hometown, and they represent freedom, curiosity, and explorations. The seagulls also remind me of the times when I used to watch them fly over the sea for hours, wondering where they were going and what they were looking for.
